>One of the things I've given a lot of thought to is that math is a language of sorts and like any language early learning is very important.>

Kids just learn different language skills now. Like the language of video games, media, and electronic and computer gadgets. So I am sure their brains are getting their exercise in different ways. And maybe that will change their problem solving abilities as adults.

Already the baby boomers who grew up with more media than their parents, try to solve many problems by controlling the marketing message rather than by actually working on the problem.

The ability to communicate well has allowed people to be successful in their societies for at least 5000 years. Investing in those skills has low risk/high reward characteristics even today.
