A hell of a lot of Americans voted for Bush and his right wing cabal. There's a growing conservatism in this country. At the same time, arrogance and ignorance are growing.

Guns and even more powerful weapons in the hands of a narrow-minded, elitist, unread group of people can lead to great destruction. Look what the Nazis pulled off in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

I've met a lot of Germans over the years whom I consider friends.

Every time I drive down the highway I see SUV after SUV passing, usually with only one passenger. They symbolize, to me, the selfish tendencies of the American people. We, as a society, have never recognized our role in the broader global community.

Actually, I have a lot of friends in Cuba too. Did you see how the US government is blocking Cuba's participation in the big baseball extravaganza that's now being planned? Oh, that's the government. Not the people.

There comes a time when the government must be recognized as a reflection of the people. Frankly, the US government is now somewhat a reflection of the people. Maybe the operative word is dumb.
