Unfortunately, somebody pilloried him for lack of quotation marks against a passage in one of his books.

I love Ambrose. Read almost all his books. He used several people to help him turn them out. And a lot of passages got lifted from other works. How much of this he knew about or did himself we will never know. But the plagiarism was extensive. It wasn't just quotation marks.

Nowadays, with google, etc, you can't get away with this.
