Given that authorities search thousands of homes every year with warrants and they are restrained only by having to get warrants, the probability of warrantless searches is very high, if the cops and Feds could get away with it.

The incidence of suicide bombers per household even in Israel and Iraq is much, much lower. In the US the odds would be something less than being struck by lightning on a golf course (which actually happens).

So why sacrifice a bedrock principle restraining government overreaching its authority for a miniscule probability? Just because the White House keeps pounding the fear of the bomber into you?

That last one was a rhetorical question.
