Thomas; The big hurdle is the low resolution of TV. HDTV would allow for good sharp NC browsers, as long as the HDTV has a bypass on the RF so you can input the new composite video from the NC to the HDTV without having to encode is as RF and then demodulate the RF to make HD video.(two wasted stages costing money, time and resolution) I imagine that it will, as new VCRs will comeout that make HDvideo, and so the browser box must as well. I cannot imagine a HDTV standard with only RF inputs.
But that offering from Microwhatzit is the thin edge of the wedge. If an integrated browser in ROM comes out that will run a small box in browse mode, they will prosper at the low end. But already offering are out there. You can buy tuner cards that generate std video, and composite video for $60. A simple RF modulator card/video card with no tuner aspect should be under $50, and that is what the microwhatzit needs to be a web TV. I thinkg Gates and his army is at work on all aspects of this situation, as thet intend to make an standard that allows for a box at every level.
