As you were involved in this thread at that time, you may remember (or you can check back) that this was the word from inside this industry. AMTX tried to get unreasonably high licensing fees for the AMTX linecode to the achieve the standard that ANSI gave their functionality. This was confirmed by others (at least Peter Piper) who heard similar stories.

Is this actually what happened? I wasn't there and so can't and don't make representation that this is what occured, but it I believe it to be the case.

Since we are probably talking dollars/modem, why else would USRX, ADI and all those who contracted with ADI/AWRE not have licensed from AMTX?
