Mish, not only is this an impeachable offence, but spying on Americans without warrants does nothing to make America "safer". Even if they discovered a plot, any judge in America would toss the evidence as "fruit of the poisoned tree". The suspect would walk free. Bush's actions are illegal, impeachable and does nothing to make America safer.
The 4th Amendment:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
