You hit the nail on the head. As for tech stocks, I use a rule of thumb in determining whether to be a long term position or a short term player in a stock. Here is the test: Imagine you have $10,000 cash that you are going to personally hand to a CEO in the computer industry. The CEO will use this money in whatever way he sees fit, with the intent of returning to you in 10 years the result of the investment. What CEO would you hand the cash over to?

Personally, Steve Raymund passed that test a long time ago. My TECD at $6.5 a share is looking happy right now.

Companies that fail this test and are short term plays for me: MCAF, SEBL, IFMX.

Jury is still out on MSEL and IBM. I trust Dwight and Lou, but the insurmountable tasks they face make me think twice.
