I don't know if Jesus would be proud of me. That is not a thought that I think. I am certain only people like yourself who seem to be scornful of any belief system would seek a God to be "proud" of you. I'm just trying to find my way by going through His book.

You "wrongly convicted" accusation is sorely lacking in facts, and is in fact, an opinion. I think there are certain gang members, mostly the younger ones or the older ones that are scared of getting caught and getting death as a sentence. I do think it is an effective aversion penalty.

Tookie took 4 peoples freedoms away permanently, Tookie was not free while under life in prison.

I think following through with a sentence passed by a judge and jury will have more of an effect on young wannbe thugs than a book on gangs and how you should not join them. On the one hand he is probably considered a sell out and not listened to except by the Hollyweirdo types. On the other hand when I think of young gang members, I don't think of them as Barnes and Noble or library types. Now I'll admit, I have not read any of Tookie's fascinating tomes on gang life, maybe there is something there that will discourage a young thug to change his ways. But I know if a wannabe gang banger sees the founder of a gang who went out and murdered 4 people get exactly what the court said he would get, he will learn to be very careful, or not to go around killing people and encouraging all his homies to form a gang to kill other people.
