George Will doesn't go anywhere with this argument. Either he is still trying to figure it out--and there is much still to learn--or he's too torn to take a strong position.

There is no argument. It is clear what the Constitution has to say about this. It is clear what FISA was set up to do. It is clear FISA was sufficient to do whatever George W. Bush wanted to do.

It is clear that George W. Bush violated the law. What are you going to do about it?

George Will is between a rock and the hard place.

George W. Bush does not give a darn what you in the blue states think.

George W. Bush is going straight to the people in the red states and telling them he is doing what it takes to make them feel safe. He will do whatever he needs to do to make them feel safe.

George Will is a little bit uncomfortable with that. He will look for any weasel language he can to get out of this.

It is as simple as that. Don't make too much out of this.
