What else is new? Senators always attach something weird to every bill. That's the way every single pork-barrel project gets passed, not as a bill in itself, but as an attachment to something grander like homeland security or education.

(I really don't know what's the big deal over ANWR anyway, for or against, but that's another argument.)

Anyway, I figured a phone call to a senator would just be screened and "passed on," whatever that's worth. Just another data point for our senators to ignore when it comes to the big political picture. At least that's the way I feel personally. I understand you're majorly p!$$ed, so I don't want to detract from what you felt was necessary.
