You've heard of the concept of fabian socialism. Well the fear I feel is that of fabian fascism. That gradually piece by piece the government will take away the citizen's civil rights. Little by little, and each time with some justifiable reason. Just like the frog being gradually boiled we will wake up one day and find out we have no civil rights left.

This has in fact happened in the case of the rights of corporations vs the rights of regular citizens. When corporations were first created they were made with all kinds of restrictions, what kind of business they would do etc. But as the legal process has gone and because corporations have the money to whittle away laws restricting them the legal landscape now greatly favors corporte rights over even government rights to restrict them.

This is just one such right, the right to privacy and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure.

That IMO is the reason for the protest.
