The scientists who have put intelligent design forward as a valid avenue of scientific research said they were disappointed by Judge Jones's ruling but that they thought its long-term effects would be limited.

The problem is that they have done no useful research, and have no idea how to do any on the subject. ID always boils down to saying, here we found 'X' which we can't explain, so it must be magic. Later, some scientist says, I can explain 'X', and the ID chaps say, Oh, well, we've now found 'Y' for you to consider. So it goes, but there is never any research on the ID side.
