Congress cannot pass a law that supersedes this. So the crux of it is, can the U.S. monitor our INTERNATIONAL enemies communications during a war when they call to or from the U.S. Orcy says no, give that edge to the terrorists.

I did not say no. In fact what I said is that we must monitor those calls! And we must follow the law and get a warrant for those calls when they involve a US Citizen. This is not a hinderence against monitoring. The law says Bush has 72 hours to actually ask for the warrant after the tapping has begun.

Our civil rights are guaranteed in this country. The right to privacy is one of them. Eroding individual rights and protecting the country are two different issues. One should not be expounding democracy on the one hand while eroding it with the other.

Sorry, Bush...or any other president does not have carte blanc to spy on Americans. Get the warrant and the over sight as required by law.
