The snow in my front yard is there because I worked hard to pile three days worth in one spot. It was an expression of love for my children. It may be melted after today.

I have lived in places just a little less temperate than your current location.

Folks from the great plains openly wonder why people in places like Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, etc. close schools when there is only two or three inches of snow. Northerners do it in a sniggering tone that implies inferiority.

When snow falls in those climates, it is wet. As soon as any person drives on it, it compresses into ice with water on top of it. Even Northerners with great snow driving experience slide in those conditions.
