I've heard of that - it may be true. But a million preventable human deaths are occuring in the third world each year. I think doing what we can to prevent human deaths which are occurring overrides potential environmental harm.

The ref to alligators was in response to a post from someone else about alligators in Lake Apopka, which I think is in Florida.
