You miss the point. The source for the origin of life IS a scientific issue. If indeed there is an Intelligent Designer, surely it is the role of science to investigate the nature of the ID, whether the ID is material and if so what material, etc.

The essence of science -- which at its heart is not a body of knowledge but a process -- is to put forward theories and then test them. We have serious scientists looking for the Loch Ness monster. We should have serious scientists looking for scientifically valid evidence of the existence or non-existence of an ID. And it is perfectly acceptable to report on this in science class, just as it is perfectly acceptable to show reports on the process of search for the Loch Ness monster in science classes.

So, because people once thought that stirring in eye of newt and toe of frog was scientific we need to teach it in science class?

Don't pooh-pooh folk wisdom. This particular recipe may not be effective today (though given the placebo effect it may have been very effective in its day, and if doctors actually prescribed it today with sufficient gravity and confidence in its ability to work it might well have beneficial effects), but the more we look at folk and herbal medical knowledge, the more we realize that it has many secrets still to reveal to us.
