Thu Dec 22, 2005 02:32 PM ET
BOSTON, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Large Scale Biology Corp. (LSBCD.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Thursday that it will close down on December 23, because it doesn't have enough cash or liquid assets to continue.

The company's stock, which closed on Wednesday at $1.41 on Nasdaq, will be delisted at the open on December 27 and will cease trading at the end of trading this Friday, December 23.

The company said it is notifying its employees that they will be laid off on the same day.

"We are taking steps to preserve our assets for the benefit of our creditors and stockholders," said Kevin Ryan, the company's chief executive.
