A scientist who is a Deist might well look through his telescope and say he is looking at God's work but that claim is not scientific. He doesn't see either the "worker" or the "designer"; he sees stars and bugs.

ID is an argument for the existence of God. It's a theological argument, not a scientific one. It should be taught in Theology and History courses.
