The French supported the revolution started by the Americans and had widespread American support. Where is the Iraqi revolution started by the Iraqis. Expatriates like Chalabi etc,. cannot be equated with the heroes of the American revolution. Actually I do not agree with the term American revolution. I disagreed with the Immigration officer when I went for my citizenship interview years and years ago. I prefer to call it the American war of Independence instead. The British historian will call it a revolt.
