Chris. Good article and certainly a good possibility of Iraq breaking up. But I suppose one could say that at least it is the people themselves who will decide the future... that is as long as they are able to have a free vote. And as I see it in any case there will no longer be an Iraq controlled by a dictator and his Sons who would have become only stronger if they had been left in power and likely would have been a threat to their neighbours and the USA it self.

If the Islam factions choose to fight among themselves for the next 10 or twenty years...well at least they will be to busy to cause a whole lot of damage to the free world.

This statement from the article you posted. >>

"Such a non-violent revolution could have come in Iraq sooner or later: Arabs are not different from other human beings"

I think they are very different from most other humans in that a good majority of them are total religious fanatics who are very willing to die for their religion. They have been killing each other for a few thousand years in that area and it is a way of life. Most other conflicts these days are about land or ownership of land or just plain political stupidity and there could be many different religions on the opposing sides. This is not the case with islam IMO for them it is ALL about their religion and IMO this makes them very different.

IMO the middle East is a religious killing grounds and has been for thousands of years and I don't think it is about to change overnight.
