Bushies are the king of pork barrel spending, money-grabbing, profiteering, gas-gouging politics. No government we have had has ever come close. It's just so grossly corrupt it's frightening. And all this corruption and spending will have to be paid for in years to come. How? By raising taxes?
The pork barrel spending and corporate welfare in the Bush's Medicare Bill alone is bigger than the gross national product of many small countries. Yet as Bushies spend and waste more and more, they also cut taxes more and more, which has our nation heading toward a fiscal brick wall.
This rampant corruption comes about because of the long-standing ethos about politics in Texas, and especially conservative Texas. Down here, it's understood that politics is a means to making money for yourself and your friends.
And when it comes to oil, well anything to boost prices, fleece consumers and plunder the environment.
Next, you have huge rightwing moves to take the safe, secure wealth of public programs and shift it into private hands where it can be stolen, skimmed, profited off and and kept from the people who actually paid for it and deserve it.
Add to this the voluntary war in Iraq and huge defense expenditures, including it seems gross domestic spying programs which cut into out 4th amendment rights, and there along you have enough corruption to swamp anything democrats have ever done. The last huge spending/pork barrel, voluntary war-profiteering democratic admin was LBJ's, and guess what? These days LBJ would be a Bush Republican. |
