Muffy awoke from her deep sleep, feeling rested for the first time in ages.

"That new blanket and pillow Santa left in the dumpster are very comfortable", she thought.

Christmas was always a season of mixed emotions.

She remembered the days at the orphanage, where various attendants gave her "gifts" -- but made her promise not to tell.

Then, she remembered her first "close encounter" with a big bux investor, and how it led to her becoming a stock market analyst (aka: paid pumper). She thought of those times when her efforts paid off handsomely, and how she had been wined and dined by corporate executives, all hoping to get a favorable report. How did all that opportunity vanish? What caused her downfall? She could never quite figure out where her life changed from fun and frivolity to a downward spiral into the depths of poverty and despair. Could she regain her status? Could she use her wit and wisdom to recover her reputation?

"Hey, I haven't analyzed any stocks for quite a while. I wonder if there's a newspaper in one of these dumpsters that I can look at. Maybe I can find the next big winner, invest my $3.97 and finally pull myself out of this mess I've made of my life."

So, she started digging around.
