Is what you are saying that these residents would be happier to be officially part of Israel going forward? Yes. They already have Israeli id cards. Israeli rule may be imperfect from their point of view, but it is law and order. They can see perfectly well that the PA offers mob rule and anarchy. Many of them are middle and class and/or Christian and have a lot to lose under PA rule. As for Sharon's health, let's all just pray for him. There is nobody who can match him in the public trust (Bibi Netanyahu has a well deserved rep similar to Bill Clinton's - at the end of the day, it's all about Bibi). There would be a kind of free for all scrum if Sharon leaves the scene, as far as I can see.
