This was on the news all afternoon. The newscaster said each time that they were allegedly Shia victims killed by Saddam's forces during the 1991 uprising.

For example:

Dozens of bodies have reportedly been found, apparently those of Shia rebels killed by Saddam Hussein's army after its defeat in the 1991 Gulf War.

How do they know those unearthed today bodies are from the 1991 uprising? Why is that specific question is NEVER discussed in today's media reports about the find, just the statement (by an unknown Iraqi official) that it's Saddam's doing during the uprising?

Perhaps they were killed during the 8 year Iran-Iraq war.

Perhaps they were killed in 1975.

Perhaps it really don't matter, and it's more suitable to just blame the bogeyman Saddam.
