The other objective that Israel may have in mind when publicly threatening Iran is to somehow cause Iran to stop its nuclear programs. Also, it serves to galvanize Israel's friends, the Americans and also Europeans to put pressure on Iran. For both Europe and America, an all out war has serious consequences they might be motivated to try to avoid? Yes, the wars and exploits of the Israelis is legendary. They no doubt believe that the hand of God will smite their enemies, as they are the chosen people. Much like many in the US believe that God is on their side too.
