It is a fact that origins are still a complete scientific mystery.

While every detail is not known, it is not a complete mystery. Scientists know a lot about self-catelyzing RNA sequences and how they might form from the chaotic mix of chemicals found in the early oceans of this planet. All life on this planet uses the same basic mechanism to live, and so the puzzle is just a matter of finding the common precursor to that mechanism. It's not as if the scientists have to start over from scratch, they work backwards to simpler and simpler forms of RNA until they find a self-building chain that can form spontaneously. Then they have the whole sequence from primordial soup to blue-green-algae in reversed order.
