Phil and Searle, I am not well read on the current subject but I wanted to post about it because I believe that the Middle East is the focal point for the possible demise of Democracy. At least in the way we know it.

I understand that Iran is very close to a nuclear weapon. All they need is processed uranium and I believe they may even have that under wraps. It is well known that there is no secret to building an atomic bomb, only one's ability to deliver it on a missile. This may take some time but Israel, nonetheless has plenty to worry about by just the prospect of having one transported near enough to them to kill tens of thousands, perhaps.

I do not believe that America has any rapport with Iran, even secretly, as Searle surmises. The leaders are radical Islamists and they have said some pretty inflammatory things as of late such as denying the holocaust. These guys have a different mindset than us and I believe they still think they can call the shots with Russia's backing and the incident during the Carter administration where we looked like cowering fools to them.

They will try to destroy us economically first. This will force Israel/America to use some small action to bomb them.

My greatest fear is war. The big guys know that a war with each other will mean Armaggedon so we fight each other through small countries. IMO, this is dry tinder looking for a match.

James
