Best age for SS depends on the circumstances. A man taking SS at 62 probably receives more benefits over his lifetime than a man who waits until 65. However, there is an offset at 62 if the individual is still working. In my case, working as a self employed attorney between 62 and 65, I could not afford the offset because of the substantial income I was still receiving.
