You have no idea what the rest of the world considers good times. 98% of Americans enjoy "good times" compared with the "working class" in half the world.

Why does that matter?

It puts the bitching and complaining into perspective. Saying only 20% of the US enjoys good times is similar to the $100 millionaire complaining that he doesn't enjoy the good times had by the billionaire. The poor 80% of the US that doesn't enjoy the "good times" still has it much, much better than 98% of the planets laborers. If you want to help others to enjoy "good times", you should focus on this other 98%, not the relatively very well off - but in JF's mind "poor" - Americans.

Unfortunately, the poor in this country usually do not compare themselves to the poor in other nations........rather they compare themselves to the middle class and wealthy in this country. That's what creates a problem.

In fact, the world doesn't expect America's poor to be as poor as the poor in other countries......that's why so many people outside the US were shocked by the situation in New Orleans.
