Soldiers turn tide on attackers [Drive-by Shooters Killed]

TIKRIT, Iraq – Troops from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division crushed a ‘drive-by’ attack, killing two terrorists and recovering a large amount of weapons on Dec. 28 near Ad Dawr.
A civilian vehicle approached the Soldiers’ patrol and began to fire at the troops with AK-47s. The Soldiers returned fire, killing both attackers and disabling the vehicle.
A search of the assailants’ vehicle turned up a terrorists’ arsenal: two IEDs prepared for emplacement, 10 large mortar rounds, four AK-47 assault rifles with 1,000 rounds of ammunition, one rocket-propelled grenade launcher with four rounds, one medium machine gun, three 9mm pistols and two hand grenades. |
