I would like to keep a record here. Yahoo Message #169667. We will see if it is true in a few years. Thanks Boston Flash.

>> "How realistic it is about CEO Bob's 2005 shareholder meeting goal of achieving 250-300 miles per charge and 5 minute charge time through NiMH Solid Storage System? How difficult is it?" <<

It has been mentioned many times that the new AA NiMH batteries can be fully recharged in now as little as 5-minutes, with 15-minutes a real breakthrough by Ray-O-Vac only about 1 year ago. 15 years ago I was told 60% in 15 minutes. Now it's 80- to 90% in 1 to 5 minutes, mentioned in the latest patents, and already on the market.

Therefore, if ECD comes out with an EV battery system that recharges to a 300 mile range on one charge for a test and control average sedan (say a compact or even a mini) in an hour or two, but even just 80% of that in 5 minutes: there you have it-- 250 Mile range in 5 minutes, without even considering regenerative braking, which might add back in an additional 20% to the rated range.

In other words: Overkill is the answer to Marketing, Advertising and PROMOTION of this NiMH capability for EV's, as any NiMH battery rated 250 miles in 5 minutes can have a fine print alert: "Up to 350 mile range with full 2-hour recharge and regenerative braking."
