I looked over, scanned - the truth be known - all this stuff at Ekwan-X and noted the mention of Noranda, Falconbridge, TRW, Northrop Grumman, Canadian Space Agency, the Canadian Center for Remote Sensing, R.J. Burnside Associates - all upstanding organizations.

Airborne Remote Sensing
Using film cameras mounted in aircraft, airborne remote sensing data products can produce pictures with spatial resolution up to 15 centimeters. These cameras capture the data by capturing reflected or emitted electro-magnetic energy from the Earth's surface, on film. Hyper spectral sensors, the newest in airborne remote sensing technology, are able to collect data about the Earth's surface that other sensors cannot. A hyper spectral sensor is an instrument that "sees" the surface of the earth not only in the visible spectrum like the human eye but also in the ultraviolet (UV), near infrared (IR) and short wave infrared (SWIR) parts of the spectrum. Where typical visible light sensors collect data in three channels (red, green and blue light channels), hyper spectral sensors can collect more than a hundred channels of data. In essence, a hyper spectral sensor captures a "fingerprint" of the earth's surface.

This hyper spectral technology, applied to mineral exploration, can be described as "airborne geochemistry" can distinguish subtle differences in mineral and vegetation composition of a study area. Burnside, as the technical service provider for Ekwan Technology Corporation (www.ekwantech.com)[not connecting!], is a leader in both designing and applying hyper spectral technology.

I PARTICULARLY liked these bits from the Ekwan-X business plan:

1) Competitive Advantage
This technology produces mineralized targets as opposed to the anomalies produced by
conventional airborne geophysics. With the exception of Noranda/Falconbridge &
Anglo/DeBeers
, very few people in the mineral exploration field understand the significance
of this dramatic difference and how it will revolutionize the mineral exploration industry.
It will take several years for the effectiveness of Hyperspectral technology to be well
understood and widely disseminated. The technology requires very sophisticated software
and hardware. It would require approximately a year and a half to build, and an expenditure of
approximately 4 to 5 million US dollars, most junior companies will not be able to afford the
capital required to build and execute programs. The capital required to build a wide swath
imager would be approximately 3 to 4 million dollars and take at least two years to design and
build.
These barriers will give Ekwan-X a considerable time advantage.

2) As more systems become available (e.g. Texaco/GER system, & Anglo) hyperspectral
technology will become a standard tool within the exploration industry. With the advent of
satellite systems it will become more broadly used than Landsat. Those first able to identify
the primary targets and advance the geologic concepts will be the ultimate winners. Noranda
has established a significant position to ensure it remains a leader in the highly competitive
search for new mineral deposits.

3)Ekwan-X is a 50% owned subsidiary of Ekwan Technology Corporation (“Ekwan”), which is
a private company, incorporated in Canada, specializing in Hyperspectral Remote sensing
technology. Ekwan is granting the mineral exploration rights of its technology to Ekwan-X in
the states of Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona. Ekwan will receive a 20 % royalty in the
proceeds of any mineral discovery made by Ekwan-X.

They start with satellite (LANDSAT and newer ones coming soon) type data and refine it by the airplane flyover of likely targets using their sophisticated equipment.

Voisey's Bay, Kidd Creek type deposits out there just waiting to be found?

I think so.

So does Ekwan-X!

PS:
More territory added:
TORONTO, Sept. 23, 2005, (PRIMEZONE via COMTEX) -- EKWAN-X is pleased to announce that it has entered into discussions with EKWAN Technology Corporation to revise the consulting agreement between EKWAN-X and EKWAN-X Technology Corporation to substantially increase the exclusive area to include the states of Utah, Colorado and California. EKWAN-X has the exclusive use of Ekwan Technologies Hyperspectral surveying instruments in these areas. EKWAN-X is presently continuing its focus on Nevada and is presently examining rock samples from the survey conducted last spring. The results from this and further surveys will add to EKWAN-X's data bank. This will substantially increase our capability to make a mineral discovery.
