2005 was the year of Tysabri. It's the year when biotech market caps have finally gotten tossed in with those of pharmas. Lots of ups and downs, but 2005 was shaped by weak currencies among pharmas, strong currencies at AMGN, DNA and GILD, and that painful day when PML became our focus.
Tough to gut it out as a biotech investor, but many have done well.
  (Congratulations!!)
Those of us who have done well? We owe Big Thanks to the sector's stock-pickers, those who work HARD to find leverage and/or timing. 2005....... market caps for the top tier continued to pull away from the collective pipeline capitalization. It wasn't a great year to be a small cap, unless you were damn good. This was, therefore, more than ever a stock-picker's year, and these guys are certainly among the very best. Following them around? We get novel technologies early. We get leverage and patience, entry targets, and thoughts re. timing. And we get to ride valuation explosions with relative downside cushion.
Please join me in congratulating the Biotech Investors of the Year........
  2005
