NEWS RELEASE (Assay & Drilling update)

SHORE GOLD INC. - FORT A LA CORNE PHASE I RESULTS PHASE II DRILLING
IN PROGRESS

SASKATOON, September 15 /CNW/ - All results have now been received from the Company's Phase I drill program on its Fort a la Corne diamond lands. Five drill holes were completed on four magnetic anomalies with all holes intersecting kimberlite. Drill holes 96-1 and 96-5 were both drilled to test a singular circular anomaly measuring 0.5 km in diameter. Holes 96-2, 96-3 and 96-4 were drilled 1.5 km to the west of hole 96-1 to test the more magnetic portions of a larger magnetic anomaly measuring approximately 2.0 km by 1.5 km. All drill holes were logged and holes 96-1 to 96-4 were split, the samples bagged and the majority shipped to the laboratory at the Saskatchewan Research Council in Saskatoon for analysis by caustic fusion. Hole 96-5 has not yet been sampled, but it is anticipated that it will be processed as a separate sample using bulk analytical techniques when the Phase II Samples are processed.

A total of 184 diamonds have been recovered including 10 diamonds with
one dimension measuring 0.5 mm or greater. The largest diamond
recovered measures 1.62 mm. Of the total count, 97% of the diamonds come from the 96-2, 96-3, and 96-4 samples with 92% coming from a visually distinct kimberlite zone near the top of the kimberlite/sediment sequence. Drill hole 96-1 produced 5 diamonds from a 552 kg sample. Results for the 'western' kimberlite and the higher grade upper zone are, as follows:

Kimberlite Total Sample less greater
Drill Hole Samples (m) Weight (kg) than 0.5mm than 0.5mm Total

96-2 63.3 187.2 49 1 50
96-3 85.2 202.2 73 8 81
96-4 22.0 75.6 47 1 48

465.0 169 10 179

including:

96-2 57.9 178.8 49 1 50
96-3 37.2 129.2 66 5 71
96-4 22.0 75.6 47 1 48

383.6 162 7 169

Over 90% of the diamonds are clear and white with no adhesions.
In addition, at the request of a major mining company involved
extensively in diamond exploration, the Company provided samples for
indicator mineral analysis. The results showed a significant population of high sodium eclogitic garnets, suggesting that the kimberlite has a very strong eclogitic component. The total size of the kimberlite resource, based on drilling and geophysics could well exceed 250 million tonnes.

Based on what the Company views as extremely positive Phase I results,
the Phase II drilling program is currently underway. The Phase II
program includes taking a mini-bulk sample of several tonnes using large diameter core (3.3 inches in diameter), as well as continuing the program of definition and exploratory drilling. While most of the core will be processed for macrodiamond recovery through a gravity circuit, samples from exploratory holes and some of the definition holes will be treated by caustic fusion for microdiamond recovery as well.

The Company has a 100% working interest in over 31,000 acres in the Fort a la Corne area, over half of which have not yet been explored. An airborne magnetic survey will be flown over the unexplored lands with ground geophysical follow-up on potential kimberlite targets.
