In Texas I had 2 new houses built in the 90's and I am sure that 30 years is the upper limit of lifespan. Everything about the construction suggested this, as Rainer Builder described. In Europe houses are built for an indefinite lifespan. My properties there will last at least a lifetime if not several. This has an enormous effect on value. Imagine what can happen to a neigborhood in an American town when all the houses deteriorate at the same time and the inhabitants happen to be short of money. Can you spell ghetto?
