This guy may know something. Brief excerpt:

By the way, this may be my last post for awhile. There is really nothing more I can say on this subject. I do have some interesting CPI data (from the early 1800's to present) which I'm currently analyzing and charting from an Elliott Wave standpoint (not surprisingly, the long term wave pattern of the CPI projects that the upcoming third wave will usher in a DEFLATIONARY depression, not a hyper-inflationary episode as many of you apparently believe). But this CPI work and a few other minor projects are just about it. And even the CPI work I'm doing is difficult to present in “post” form so I'm unlikely to work up a post on that. Perhaps sometime in the latter part of January, I can find the time to create a useful PDF file of that CPI chart and make that available to registered users of this forum along with some commentary.

In the meantime, please keep your focus on the “long term” consequences of all that you do daily. Your life is ultimately the accumulation of all of your individual decisions. While short term trading is fun, surviving is critical. If you suddenly lose all of your “chips”, you can't make future bets, feed your family, pay your mortgage and medical bills, fund your retirement, etc. And even if you are lucky enough to have a bunch of “chips” left after the crash, that won't matter if you happen to live in the wrong area when the hammer falls. Those hunting for someone else's chips and other stuff will be most pleased to find them gathered up at one location: your personal residence.

In this New Year and beyond, may you find increasing comfort in matters of the mind, body and spirit, and decreasing preoccupation with matters involving the acquisition or chasing of “stuff.”

Goodbye for now and Happy New Year!!
