Wow, I couldnt believe what I heard! The CEO of Cymer (whos only 4 customers are SVGI, ASMLF, NIKKON, & CANNON) said:

"because of the unique design of "micrascan" it doesnt need incredibly narrow bandwidth from its light source...it can take wider color emission from that light source and that makes life wonderful for the laser. It can operate more efficiently, more robustly and with less sensitivity to the parameters of the lasers specs which can otherwise cause instability."

Which of course is related to what was also mentioned and in your post about "micrascan" being able to use current generation lasers, and not having to wait for the next.

I might add, this guy was as excited while explaining the advantages of micrascan as he was during the whole call!

This also answers the question raised earlier about step and scan being shipped already by others....NOT! Because you need the new lasers! That was such a tricky little press release by one of those other companies remember that...step and scan ready to ship..blah blah...what bull.
