The companies I listed are the among the leadership from the 1994 lows. It's one thing to small tech stocks for Procter and Gamble to be declining as it has been, quite another for Cisco to be declining.

They have immense capitalizations. Mark-downs in these issues take huge amounts of equity out of the overall market. The equity evaporates into thin air.

As I posted last night, they are also the heaviest-weighted components in the tech averages. Averages make headlines, and mutual-fund shareowners notice the headlines.

If it turns out that we're in a bear market, institutions will buy into these issues first once it ends. They dominate huge market segments.

As for staffing, Netscape has been adding staff faster than Cymer.
