IF drugs are made legal, I would assume they would cost money ... right? Yes but probably less, perhaps much less. Would they be controlled so that children under 18 (or pick an age) couldn't get them? Probably, or maybe it would be 21 like alcohol. OTOH that might leave a market for the current drug dealers to serve and maybe fight over. But maybe it would work like alcohol, with the drug legal and widely available there might not be enough incentive to create or even maintain illegal distribution and sales networks. What are the effects now of using drugs, and how do they affect the body? Very variable, esp. since your are talking bout a number of different drugs. Will these effects go away because the drugs are legal? Some of them will be reduced. Variations in quality and strength resulting in over doses or toxic reactions to the ingredients the drug is "cut" with should be reduced. How will the druggies get the money for their drugs if they are legal. Currently, many of them steal items and money to support their habit. Some of them still will steal the drugs but I have no reason to think the problem would be worse. If the drugs are less expensive the problem might not be as bad. Do you think the drugs will be cheaper in price if they are legalized? Yes, depending on exactly how they are legalized. Heavy restrictions and heavy taxes might result in the same net effect as if they were not legalized. But there will have to be a complete "re-think" of the entire problem statement.... Making them illegal hasn't worked out so well. Unless there is a good reason to think things will be much worse (and I don't think there is), it might be time to try something new. Tim
