This is somewhat misleading, because this was not your typical mining deal. Placer and Kennecott did the work, and National Gold got the property because of prior connections (with Kennecott). Alamos got in because of the sweet deal that National Gold made at cents on the (exploration investment) dollar. The arrangement with the ejido was relatively simple for the new group. Several other sweet deals have become important in the last couple of years, including Western Silver at Penasquito.

Too many times investors see the easy part of the deal, and not the years of effort put into the property. Granted, for the investors in the property as a new deal, that is what they should see! They have managed to get in without the risk. But the history of the property should be weighed accordingly! For example, saying that it would be easy for Alamos to "screw up", in reality, it would be difficult for that to happen; the main benefit was in the deal.

This is something that has to be taken into account during DD.
