Sometimes even fair and kind employers get unionized. The employees always seem to think that they are owed more than the receive. I have seen some very good operators get unionized.

After unionizing, the employees are seldom happy with the result. They find that the friendly relationship their employer had with them is strained by the interference of a newly assertive shop steward eager to prove his or her worth to the members and to his new union bosses.

Some unions add value, but more are just a voluntary form af taxation. It is like a lottery, the organizers promise the big payoff, and the union is tho only one who receives the big rewards.
