Rather then PUSH them into low paying, non productive jobs IMHO we ought to INSIST that anyone getting welfare be entered into a government approved education program to learn a skill.

One of our biggest boondoggles, IMO, is "job training." It's a haven for Social Science majors. The people on welfare today who are capable of working are mainly low level types who are not going to progress past what we call entry level. And the ones that can will do it in on-the-job training. But, of course, I know that is another one of my "perfect world" solutions. :>)
