Evidently you haven't had any seminar or long term workshops in drugs vs alcohol....Alcohol generally takes 20 years or more to become addicted...although its effects are readily known on a short term basis. (i.e. driving irresponsibly, beating up other people, etc)...

Many of the current group of drugs is addictive within two weeks or in other short periods of time. If you don't believe that, go and research it yourself.

Prohibition was not a good model for drugs and the addictive process. All prohibition did was make people like Joesph Kennedy Sr rich. And richer.
