Male Pride and Female Prejudice
By JOHN TIERNEY
When there are three women for every two men graduating from college, whom will the third woman marry?

This is not an academic question. Women, who were a minority on campuses a quarter-century ago, today make up 57 percent of undergraduates, and the gender gap is projected to reach a 60-40 ratio within a few years. So more women, especially black and Hispanic women, will be in a position to get better-paying, more prestigious jobs than their husbands, which makes for a tricky variation of "Pride and Prejudice."

I did a paper recently on this very subject......all hell broke out in class. Women are scoring better in K-12, more are graduating from high school, more are going on to college and more are going on to graduate school. In 1972, 60% of college entrants were boys; 40% girls. Now its the reverse.

It used to be boys led in Math, Social Studies and Science; girls in English. Girls now lead in Social Studies; are equal in Math and are closing the gap in Science. Meanwhile, the gap between boys and girls in English is growing with the boys falling further behind. Boys are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. In every educational metric, boys are doing worse than girls.
