All you really have to do is to reverse a tiny bit of history and ask "what would be the result?"

If Israel had lost any of its wars, or if it weren't strong enough to have a deterrent, do you think we'd be debating the condition of Jews in a camp or rather how to identify human remains? Would the voices be any louder than they were during the Holocaust? Or would it be just nice rhetorical points as we've seen in the world reaction to Rwanda, Liberia, etc.

If the US did not strike back after 9/11, is there any doubt we would have suffered more? I've got questions in my own mind whether or not Iraq was the most effective and efficient use of our force, but it's tough to argue with the need to counter the crazed jihaddists with a bit of insanity of our own. It seems to be the language that the terrorist lovers understand, language used in common with our Goebbels admirers.
