Dale the latest TIME magazine has an excellent article on how most of South America is turning toward Socialism.. Chavez is the leader in his defiance toward the U.S>.. Even Mexico is leaning toward that form of government. The gist of what I got from the article is that the present administration has been inadvertently enabling this to happen. Their policies toward these various countries has been so unfriendly,dogmatic and generally indifferent( the president of Mexico says he cannot even get through to the President on the phone...) that their is a backlash that is
currying favoritism with Castro and Chavez..and other leaders.

These are not the only reasons as one can glean however, it is interesting that our government is trying to bring democracy to Iraq while ignoring the rest of the world.
