Like so many in the entertainment field, Letterman got lucky with a late night tv show.

I was a late night addict back in the Carson years. Johnny was always smart enough to keep his personal opinions to himself. He was an equal-opportunity attacker of Pols.

Letterman has always been the smart one. His counterpart on NBC has always come across as a night club comic with no political opinions who is dumber than Letterman. Will this comment hurt his ratings? I doubt it.

I will be interested in reading O'Reilly's reaction to his battering by Letterman on his show today. He doesn't do well in these kind of exchanges.
