Hi Peter, flushing Barney down any toilet will not work.<g>The way most toilets work is the water in the bowl starts to swirl and the vast majority of the water goes down the drain "first" and the waste follows along "behind," through the usually small (little over 2 inch)trap. This does not work very well as the waste will sometimes get caught in the trap, or the drain pipe.

The Caroma toilet has revolutionized this process by first of all, having a 4 inch trap with a smaller amount of water in the bottom of the toilet. The water shoots down from the tank, goes around the bowl and forces the waste out and down the drain with the majority of the 3 L of water "behind" the waste, pushing all the way down the sewer pipe.I have one of these toilets and use the 3 L flush nearly 100 percent of the time.
