At least two people have tested positive for the bird flu virus in eastern Turkey, Health Minister Recep Akdag told a news conference Wednesday.

"Two patients have tested positive, and there is another suspected case case," he said.

This is the first time that bird flu has been found in humans in Turkey.

The patients are being treated at a hospital in the eastern city of Van and come from Dogubeyazit, near the border with Iran.
